PTP Assignment 2

Diigo

This is a great technology to use in the classroom. It's a great way to go through the internet, highlighting and bookmarking. I find that it would be a fantastic way to study and write a research paper. That being said, I honestly believe this technology could be more beneficial for an English major who will be reading documents online and annotating stories to teach to his or her students. I found it much more professional than Pinterest however and I feel like I will use this technology a lot more when I'm actually planning lessons.

1. I learned that Diigo is a great way to save documents online, web pages or pictures that may be useful for teaching. It's also great if you were to join groups. I thought that was really great. You could form groups with your fellow teachers and collaborate on your findings. You could even do that within different schools. It is a great way to share information easily with others.
2. If there are those who are sick and at home, this would be a great technology to use for those missing classes. Linking them to web pages or adding them to a group would be great-they could see the web document or picture you found and see your notes as well. That way, they could almost teach themselves.
3. You could definitely use this technology by having students read or look at certain web pages and have them annotate their thoughts as well, right there on the page. Obviously you would have class groups etc. This would help me as a teacher, see what they thought during certain sections. I'm not sure however, if you have the option of printing pages with your highlights and annotations right on the page. That would be a great way to turn in assignments as well.
You could also have students look up weekly recipes and bookmark them as an assignment. This would be a lot easier through Diigo than printing them out each week. Research is a great use of Diigo. Making sure you have your resources all ready is great-if I were to every assign research papers-I would definitely direct my students to using Diigo.

  1. I'm glad you did this technology because I didn't research it so don't know anything about it. It sounds like it will be a good tool in the classroom.

  2. I did this too and loved it. I like the idea as well for using it as a make up tool. Also would be great if everyone could pull their ideas about a certain recipe together or see if they could make modification to the recipe based on learned knowledge.

  3. I have never used this technology before or had even heard of it. It is cool to read how you would use it, I would be very interested to play with it and see what I could learn about it.
